Welcome to the group of five guys

On a Friday night in late October of 2019, founders Matt Sprouse and Jesse Grisham were having a few cold ones while watching a random college football game. While reminiscing about their college days playing football at Middle Tennessee, they also discussed the lack of fan support, hype and coverage these type of games receive. The best ideas tend to reveal themselves over a few drinks and memories. Sprouse then looked over and said, “man I think there’s a market for that.” The next day Group of Five Guys twitter was born.

Fast forward to today, The Group of Five Guys are on all social media platforms and produce a weekly podcast covering all Group of Five games and news. During the season the guys travel to different cities documenting the entire experience to show the world how amazing these programs and fans truly are.

Our mission is to bring pride and excitement to the group of five football programs that they rightly deserve by providing coverage the mainstream sports media refuses to do.

The Group of Five Guys travel to different programs each year and document the full experience. The goal is to show you can have as much, if not more, of a good time at a Group of Five school as opposed to a "Power Five" school. Whether it is as a fan or student athlete, we want people to be proud of their school. The experience is not just one but a combination of the city, facilities, tailgate and game. These programs and cities have a lot to offer and great time is just the beginning. It is our mission to document and give coverage to all of it.
